house Resolution No.316
The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:
Whereas, It is with profound sadness that the members of this legislative body learned of the passing of our colleague and friend, Isaac Robinson. His passionate and tireless work on behalf of the people of Michigan, especially his constituents in Detroit and Hamtramck in the Fourth District, stands as a model for public servants across our state; and
Whereas, Isaac Robinson's sense of duty to his community was evident long before he was elected to public office. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, he earned a juris doctor from Northwestern University and carried his commitment to advocacy into public life. He spent more than a decade working on behalf of organized labor in a variety of roles, in addition to serving as staff to the Detroit City Council, Michigan Legislature, and U.S. Congress. Isaac Robinson was also known in the community as an advocate for people from all walks of life, particularly people with disabilities, a quality that made him well-suited to seek election to the House of Representatives in 2018; and
Whereas, Representative Robinson brought his exceptional enthusiasm, compassion, and work ethic to everything he did while serving in the House of Representatives. He served on the Commerce and Tourism, Regulatory Reform, and Tax Policy committees, but his efforts extended to numerous other policy areas affecting the people of his district, including criminal justice reform, housing, health care, education, the environment, and civil rights. Beyond his work on the issues, Representative Robinson's good humor and big heart left a lasting impression on the people with whom he worked, both inside and outside the House of Representatives; and
Whereas, Isaac Robinson was a principled public servant and fierce advocate who cared deeply about the people of his community and our state. Upon his passing, we offer our condolences to his family and friends. We hope that they may find comfort in the knowledge that the community as a whole shares in their bereavement and that the legacy of Isaac Robinson's contributions will long continue to enrich our state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this expression of our highest tribute to honor the memory of Isaac Robinson, a member of this legislative body from 2019 to 2020; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Robinson family as evidence of our lasting esteem for his memory.
