The bill would amend the Insurance Code to delete the January 1, 1997, sunset on a requirement that the Insurance Commissioner waive the Code's continuing education requirements for an agent who is licensed to write only travel or baggage insurance policies and whose employment is for a purpose other than the sale of those policies.
In addition, the Code requires that the Insurance Commissioner approve a program of study for continuing education if he or she determines that the program increases knowledge of insurance and related subjects by offering instruction in any of a list of subject areas. The bill would add “principles of agency management” to that list of subjects.

This bill would not enable the Department of Consumer and Industry Services to reduce spending in programs administered by the Insurance Bureau or have a fiscal impact on local governmental units.
