House Bill 4971 (as passed by the House) Sponsor: Representative John Llewellyn House Committee: Local Government Senate Committee: Government Operations

Date Completed: 11-12-96

CONTENT

The bill would amend Chapter 16 of the Revised Statutes of 1846, which deals with the powers and duties of townships, to require a township board in a township with a State equalized valuation (SEV) over $50 million to publish the proceedings of any meeting in a newspaper of general circulation in the township, within 21 days after the meeting.

Currently, the Act provides that a township with an SEV over $25 million must publish the proceedings of any meeting, in a newspaper of general circulation in the township, within 21 days after the meeting.
