I rise to express great sympathy and sadness to the families of the Detroit officers, and to the residents of the city of Detroit at the very tragic killing of a police officer and wounding of others.
We are always mindful of the job the men and women around the state do on a daily basis. But this is one particular example of how that job on a daily basis can turn suddenly deadly and suddenly tragic.
I wanted to rise and express my appreciation to the men and women who protect the streets of Detroit and the other streets around our state. Also, to express my sympathy and condolences to those family members and support of the family, the officers, and the citizens of Detroit in their time of loss.
