CONTENT


The bill would amend Public Act 319 of 1990 (which prohibits local firearms regulations) to provide that a local unit of government could not prohibit an individual, licensed under Federal law to engage in the business of selling firearms, from selling firearms in any area of the local unit, including a residence, in which a person was permitted to engage in any other business.


Currently, the Act provides that a local unit must not impose special taxation on, or enact or enforce any ordinance or regulation pertaining to, or regulate in any other manner the ownership, registration, purchase, sale, transfer, transportation, or possession of pistols or other firearms except as otherwise provided by Federal law or State law.
