CONTENT
The bill would create a new act to require institutions of higher education to report on free or reduced tuition for certain students.
The bill would require the governing board of each institution of higher education to submit by August 1 of each year to the Senate and House Appropriations Committees, Education Appropriations Subcommittees, and Fiscal Agencies a report that included the following information regarding the previous academic year:
-- The number of students who received a tuition waiver or a reduction in tuition rate solely because one of the student's parents was an administrator, tenured faculty member, or tenure track faculty member at the institution where the student was enrolled.
-- The total amount of tuition waived or reduced solely because one of the student's parents was an administrator, tenured faculty member, or tenure track faculty member at the institution where the student was enrolled.

FISCAL IMPACT
There could be minimal additional administrative costs for community colleges (which are local units of government) and universities to compile the information needed for the report.
