A bill to amend 1982 PA 294, entitled "Friend of the court act," by amending section 9 (MCL 552.509), as amended by 1996 PA 365. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 9. (1) After a support order is entered in a domestic 2 relations matter AND except as otherwise provided in the order or 3 judgment, the office shall receive all payments of support orders 4 and service fees; shall, not less than once each month, record 5 the support payments due, paid, and past due; and shall disburse 6 all support payments to the recipient of support within 14 days 7 after the office receives each payment. BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 8 1998, TO THE GREATEST EXTENT POSSIBLE, THE OFFICE SHALL USE ELEC- 9 TRONIC MEANS TO RECEIVE, RECORD, AND DISBURSE SUPPORT PAYMENTS SO 10 THAT SUPPORT MONEY IS DISBURSED IMMEDIATELY UPON RECEIPT. 00056'97 a CPD 2 1 (2) The office shall provide annually to each party, without 2 charge, 1 statement of account upon request. Additional 3 statements of account shall be provided at a reasonable fee suf- 4 ficient to pay for the cost of reproduction. Statements provided 5 under this subsection are in addition to statements provided for 6 administrative and judicial hearings. 7 (3) The office shall initiate and carry out proceedings to 8 enforce an order entered in a domestic relations matter regarding 9 custody, parenting time, health care coverage, or support in 10 accordance with this act, the support and parenting time enforce- 11 ment act, and supreme court rules. 12 Enacting section 1.
