        A bill to amend 1974 PA 160, entitled

   "An act to provide for the adjustment of county boundaries; to
   provide for referendum thereon; and to prescribe the powers and
   duties of the secretary of state,"

   (MCL 45.101 to 45.102) by amending the title and by adding sec-

   tion 1a.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1                                  TITLE

 2         An act to provide for the adjustment of county boundaries;

 3    to provide for referendum thereon;  and  to prescribe the powers

 4    and duties of the secretary of state; AND TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES

 5    AND PROVIDE REMEDIES.

 6         SEC. 1A.  A PETITION UNDER SECTION 1, INCLUDING THE CIRCULA-

 7    TION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION 488 OF

 8    THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488.  A PERSON

 9    WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA

 5         Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take

 6    effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____
