        A bill to amend 1956 PA 197, entitled

   "An act to promote the agricultural interests of the various
   townships of this state; to provide referenda,"

   (MCL 285.201 to 285.203) by amending the title and by adding sec-

   tion 2a.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1                                  TITLE

 2         An act to promote the agricultural interests of the various

 3    townships of this state; to provide referenda; AND TO PRESCRIBE

 4    AND PROVIDE REMEDIES.

 5         SEC. 2A.  A PETITION UNDER SECTION 2 OR 3, INCLUDING THE

 6    CIRCULATION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION

 7    488 OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488.  A

 8    PERSON WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW,

 9    1954 PA 116, MCL 168.1 TO 168.992, APPLICABLE TO A PETITION

 2    FOR THAT VIOLATION IN THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL

 4         Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take

 5    effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____

 6    (request no. 02378'97) of the 89th Legislature is enacted into
