        A bill to amend 1989 PA 24, entitled

   "The district library establishment act,"

   (MCL 397.171 to 397.196) by amending the title and by adding sec-

   tion 10a.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1                                  TITLE

 2         An act to provide for the establishment and maintenance of

 3    district libraries; to provide for district library boards; to

 4    define the powers and duties of certain state and local govern-

 5    mental entities; TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES AND PROVIDE REMEDIES; and

 6    to repeal  certain  acts and parts of acts.

 7         SEC. 10A.  A PETITION UNDER SECTION 10 OR 11, INCLUDING THE

 8    CIRCULATION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION

 9    488 OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488.  A

10    PERSON WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW,

 6    effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____
