A bill to amend 1976 PA 448, entitled "Michigan energy employment act of 1976," (MCL 460.801 to 460.848) by amending the title, as amended by 1983 PA 120, and by adding section 42a. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 TITLE 2 An act to prescribe the powers and duties of municipalities 3 and governmental units to acquire, finance, maintain, and operate 4 generating, transmission, and distribution facilities of electric 5 power and energy, fuel and energy sources and reserves and all 6 necessary related properties, equipment and facilities; to permit 7 the exercise of those powers in joint venture or joint agency 8 agreements; to provide for the issuance of bonds and notes; to 9 prescribe the powers and duties of the municipal finance 10 commission or its successor agency and of certain other state 02378'97 lll KKR 2 1 officers and agencies with respect to municipal electric utility 2 financing; to create certain funds and prescribe their operation; 3 and to provide for tax exemptions and other exemptions; AND TO 4 PRESCRIBE PENALTIES AND PROVIDE REMEDIES. 5 SEC. 42A. A PETITION UNDER SECTION 42, INCLUDING THE CIRCU- 6 LATION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION 488 OF 7 THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488. A PERSON 8 WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 9 116, MCL 168.1 TO 168.992, APPLICABLE TO A PETITION DESCRIBED IN 10 THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO THE PENALTIES PRESCRIBED FOR THAT VIO- 11 LATION IN THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.1 TO 12 168.992. 13 Enacting section 1.
