A bill to amend 1997 PA 16, entitled "The playground equipment safety act," by amending section 4 (MCL 408.684). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 4. On and after May 1, 1998, a person, who for compen- 2 sation manufactures or assembles public playground equipment, 3 that fails to comply with the following standards is subject to a 4 state civil infraction under this act: 5 (a) The "handbook for public playground safety" published 6 for the U.S. consumer products safety commission, which is incor- 7 porated by reference and is based upon recommendations provided 8 to the commission by the COMSIS corporation in March 1990 in 9 "development of human factors criteria for playground equipment 10 safety" by Donna Rattle, Melanie Morrison, and Neil Lerner. 04238'97 SAT 2 1 (b) The "standard consumer safety performance specification 2 for playground equipment for public use, ASTMF1487-933 1487-95", published by the American society for testing and mate- 4 rials, which is hereby incorporated by reference. 04238'97 Final page.
