A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled "The Michigan penal code," by amending section 227 (MCL 750.227), as amended by 1986 PA 8. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 227. (1) A person shall not carry a dagger, dirk, sti- 2 letto, a double-edged nonfolding stabbing instrument of any 3 length, or any other dangerous weapon, except a hunting knife 4 adapted and carried as such A HUNTING KNIFE, concealed on or 5 about his or her person, or whether concealed or otherwise in any 6 vehicle operated or occupied by the person, except in his or her 7 dwelling house, place of business or on other land possessed by 8 the person. 9 (2) A UNLESS A PERSON IS EXEMPT FROM LICENSURE UNDER 10 SECTION 6 OF 1927 PA 372, MCL 28.426, A person shall not carry a 11 pistol concealed on or about his or her person, or, whether 03499'97 a TVD 2 1 concealed or otherwise, in a vehicle operated or occupied by the 2 person, except in his or her dwelling house, place of business, 3 or on other land possessed by the person, without a license to 4 carry the pistol as provided by law and, if licensed, shall not 5 carry the pistol in a place or manner inconsistent with any 6 restrictions upon such license. 7 (3) A person who violates this section is guilty of a 8 felony, punishable by imprisonment for not more than 5 years, or 9 by a fine of not more than $2,500.00. 10 Enacting section 1.
