A bill to amend 1986 PA 288, entitled "An act to establish a Michigan work-study program for qualified resident students attending eligible postsecondary schools and employed by qualified employers; and to prescribe the powers and duties of certain state agencies," by amending section 3 (MCL 390.1373). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 3. (1) A recognized postsecondary school in this state 2 is eligible to participate in the MWS program if the postsecond- 3 ary school is MEETS ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: 4 (A) IS a degree-granting institution approved by the state 5 board of education. , the 6 (B) ITS instructional programs are not comprised solely of 7 sectarian instruction or religious worship. , and the school 8 participates 04207'97 f CPD 2 1 (C) PARTICIPATES in the federal work-study program under 2 sections 441 to 448 OF PART C of title IV of the higher education 3 act of 1965, PUBLIC LAW 89-329, 42 U.S.C. 2751 to 2756b. 4 (D) IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE TAXPAYER-FUNDED ABORTION PRO- 5 HIBITION ACT. 6 (2) A participating school, at its option, may offer aca- 7 demic credit to students enrolled in the MWS program. 8 Enacting section 1.
