A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILLS 4104 and 4105 AS INTRODUCED 1-28-99

House Bills 4104 and 4105 would amend the Revised School Code and the State School Aid Act, respectively, to allow a student's parent to notify the board of a school district or public school academy that his or her student's state endorsement test scores should be omitted from the student's transcript. Under the bills, the notification would have to be made within 60 days after receiving the scores.

House Bill 4104 (MCL 380.1279 and 380.1304) also would prohibit school officials from unreasonably restricting a parent's access to his or her child's classroom. In addition, the bill would delete an out-dated provision that allows students to repeat assessments before their graduation.

House Bill 4105 (MCL 388.1704a) also would delete the same out-dated provision that allows students to repeat assessments before their graduation.
