A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4631 AS INTRODUCED 5-4-99

Currently, the Child Protection Law (Public Act 238 of 1975) specifies that the pregnancy of a child who is under 12 years of age, or the presence of a venereal disease in a child who is between one month and 12 years of age, constitutes reasonable cause to suspect child abuse and neglect. House Bill 4631 would amend the act to specify, instead, that the pregnancy of a child under 16 years of age, or the presence of a venereal disease in a child who is between one month and 16 years of age, would constitute reasonable cause to suspect child abuse and neglect.
