A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4958 AS INTRODUCED 10-5-99

Generally, under the Michigan Liquor Control Code of 1998, the issuance of on-premise liquor licenses is restricted to one license for each 1,500 of population. Currently, the code allows the Liquor Control Commission to issue class C liquor licenses to public golf courses that are owned by a county, city, village, or township located in a county with a population over 1 million without regard to the quota provisions. House Bill 4958 would amend the code to allow the commission to issue a liquor license, without regard to the quota provision, to the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority for a public golf course owned by the authority.
