A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5077 AS INTRODUCED 11-2-99


The bill would amend the Michigan Liquor Control Code to allow an on-premises licensee to offer and award his or her employees unopened alcoholic beverages in a sealed container as a gift or as a prize for any activity allowed under the code. The employee would have to be at least 21 years of age and the alcohol given as a gift or prize could not be consumed on the licensed premises. In addition, an on-premise licensee could give a sample or tasting of alcohol to an employee who was at least 21 years old for the purpose of educating the employee regarding one or more types of alcoholic liquor.
