A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5174 AS INTRODUCED 12-8-99

House Bill 5174 would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to require that, beginning 90 days after the effective date of the bill, the fee imposed by the secretary of state for vehicle registration be calculated using the purchase price or the bluebook value of the vehicle, whichever is greater, in lieu of the list price. Under the bill, the "bluebook value" would mean the most recently published volume of the NADA official used car guide published by the National Automobile Dealers Association.
