A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5461 AS INTRODUCED 2-29-00

The bill would amend the law entitled "Of county officers," which regulates the appointment of notaries public, to allow the secretary of state to revoke the commission of a notary who had been convicted of embezzlement. This would be in addition to the current law's provisions allowing a notary's commission to be revoked for official misconduct or incapacity.
