A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5767 AS INTRODUCED 5-10-00

The bill would amend Public Act 198 of 1974, which provides for the establishment of plant rehabilitation and industrial development districts for purposes of granting property tax abatements, to include "high technology" activities, in addition to manufacturing and other items, as an activity eligible for tax abatement (as those activities take place on eligible industrial property). The bill would specify that "high technology activity" would be defined as that term is defined in the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) Act.
