A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5804 AS INTRODUCED 5-17-00

House Bill 5804 would amend the Revised School Code to require that a school board work with an appropriate municipal emergency management coordinator to develop and implement an emergency management plan for each school operated by the school board.

Under the bill, if a school board determined there was no appropriate municipal emergency management coordinator with whom to work, its members would be required to work with the emergency management division of the Department of State Police to develop each school's plan. Further, the bill would require municipalities, municipal emergency management coordinators, and the department to cooperate with school boards in developing and implementing the plans.
