A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILLS 6102 - 6109 AS INTRODUCED 11-9-00
The bills would require that, not less than 30 days before entering into a contract for legal services, local governments (cities, villages, townships and counties) publish in a newspaper of general circulation within their respective jurisdictions notice that they were accepting proposals for legal services, and a description of the legal services for which they proposed to contract.
House Bill 6102 would amend the Charter Township Act (MCL 42.14b); House Bill 6103 would amend Public Act 246 of 1945 (MCL 41.187), which defines the powers and duties of township boards; House Bill 6104 would amend the General Law Village Act (MCL 67.47); House Bill 6105 would amend the Home Rule Village Act (MCL 78.24d); House Bill 6106 would amend Public Act 293 of 1966 (MCL 45.514a), which defines the powers and duties of charter counties; House Bill 6107 would amend Public Act 139 of 1973 (MCL 45.556b), which defines the powers and duties of county government; House Bill 6108 would amend Public Act 156 of 1851 (MCL 46.11d), which defines the powers and duties of county boards of commissioners; and, House Bill 6109 would amend the Home Rule City Act (MCL 117.5j).
