A SUMMARY OF HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION L AS INTRODUCED 10-12-99

The joint resolution would amend the constitution to require the governor to meet with each house of the legislature at least once a month when the legislature was in session, and to respond to questions by legislators about the general state of government and executive branch policies. The governor would be required to respond to an equal number of questions posed by legislators in both the majority and minority parties. The joint resolution also would allow the governor to bring the heads of each principal executive department to help in answering questions.

The constitutional amendment would be put to a vote of the people at the next general election.
