CONTENT
The bill would amend Chapter 14 of the Revised Statutes of 1846 ("Of county officers") to prohibit the appointment or service as a notary public of a person who was serving a term of imprisonment in a state correctional facility or jail in this or any other state, or in a Federal correctional facility.
In addition, if a person holding office as a notary public were sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a state correctional facility or jail in this or any other state, or in a Federal correctional facility, that person's commission as a notary public would be automatically revoked on the date on which the person began serving the sentence in the jail or correctional facility.
