        A bill to amend 1971 PA 140, entitled

   "State revenue sharing act of 1971,"

   by amending section 17 (MCL 141.917), as amended by 1987 PA 283.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 17.  Unless otherwise assigned, pledged, or required to

 2    be withheld, the payments made under this act to a city, village,

 3    township, or county  shall  ARE SUBJECT TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING

 4    REQUIREMENTS:

 5         (A) SHALL be paid directly to the treasurer of the city,

 6    village, township, or county  , shall  OR, BEGINNING APRIL 1,

 7    2000, AT THE OPTION OF THE CITY, VILLAGE, TOWNSHIP, OR COUNTY,

 8    DEPOSITED BY ELECTRONIC FUND TRANSFER INTO AN ACCOUNT AT A FINAN-

 9    CIAL INSTITUTION IDENTIFIED BY THE TREASURER.

10         (B) SHALL be credited to the general fund of the city,

11    village, township, or county.  , and shall
