A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled "The Michigan penal code," by amending section 226 (MCL 750.226). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 226. (1)Carrying firearm or dangerous weapon with2unlawful intent--AnyA personwhoSHALL NOT, with intent to 3 use the same unlawfully against the person of another,goes4armed withPOSSESS a pistol or other firearm or A dagger, dirk, 5 razor, stiletto, or knife having a blade over 3 inches in length, 6 or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument., shall7be8 (2) A PERSON WHO VIOLATES THIS SECTION IS guilty of a felony 9,punishable, EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (3), by 10 imprisonmentin the state prisonfor not more than 5 years or 11bya fine of not more than2,500 dollars$2,500.00, OR BOTH. 03525'99 * TVD 2 1 (3) A PERSON WHO IS LICENSED TO CARRY A CONCEALED PISTOL AND 2 WHO VIOLATES THIS SECTION WHILE HE OR SHE IS CARRYING A PISTOL, 3 WHETHER CONCEALED OR NOT, IS GUILTY OF A FELONY PUNISHABLE BY 4 IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 10 YEARS OR A FINE OF NOT MORE 5 THAN $5,000.00, OR BOTH. 6 Enacting section 1.
