A bill to amend 1974 PA 300, entitled "Motor vehicle service and repair act," by amending the title and section 38 (MCL 257.1338) and by adding section 35a. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 TITLE 2 An act to regulate the practice of servicing and repairing 3 motor vehicles; to proscribe unfair and deceptive practices; to 4 provide for training and certification of mechanics; to provide 5 for the registration of motor vehicle repair facilities; to pro- 6 vide for enforcement; and to prescribe penalties AND CIVIL 7 SANCTIONS. 8 SEC. 35A. THE BUSINESS OF A MOTOR VEHICLE REPAIR FACILITY 9 SHALL NOT BE CARRIED ON AT A RESIDENCE. A PERSON WHO VIOLATES 05936'00 TMV 2 1 THIS SECTION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A STATE CIVIL INFRACTION AND 2 SHALL BE FINED $1,000.00. 3 Sec. 38. Any person, agent, or employee of a registrant 4 under this act who knowingly violates this act is guilty of a 5 misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days 6 or a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both, for the first con- 7 viction under this act and not more than 1 year or a fine of not 8 more than $5,000.00, or both, for any subsequent conviction. 9 THIS SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO A VIOLATION OF SECTION 35A. 05936'00 Final page.
