A bill to amend 1972 PA 239, entitled "McCauley-Traxler-Law-Bowman-McNeely lottery act," by amending sections 29 and 39 (MCL 432.29 and 432.39). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 29. A LOTTERY ticket or share shall not be sold OR 2 GIVEN to any person under the age of1821.This does not3prohibit the purchase of a ticket or share for the purpose of4making a gift by a person 18 years of age or older to a person5less than age 18.A licensee OR INDIVIDUAL who knowingly sells 6 or offers to sell a lottery ticket or share to a person under the 7 age of1821 is guilty of a misdemeanor. 8 Sec. 39. (1) If the person entitled to a prize or any win- 9 ning ticket is under the age of 18 years, and the prize is more 10 than $1,000.00, the commissioner shall direct payment of the 11 prize by transfer to the guardian of the minor of a check or 04061'99 TLG 2 1 draft payable to the order of the guardian. If less than 2 $1,000.00, the commissioner may direct payment of the prize to 3 the adult member of the minor's family who is legally responsible 4 for the care and custody of the minor. The commissioner shall be 5 discharged of all further liability upon payment of a prize to a 6 minor pursuant to this section. 7 (2) IF THE PERSON ENTITLED TO A PRIZE OR ANY WINNING TICKET 8 IS NOT LESS THAN 18 BUT UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE, THE COMMISSIONER 9 SHALL DIRECT PAYMENT OF THE PRIZE TO BE HELD BY THE BUREAU UNTIL 10 THE PERSON REACHES 21 YEARS OF AGE. 04061'99 Final page.
