THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 119.Bribery of jurors, etc.--AnyA person who 2shall corruptCORRUPTS orattemptATTEMPTS to corruptany3 AN appraiser, receiver, trustee, administrator, executor, commis- 4 sioner, auditor, juror, arbitrator, or referee,by giving, 5 offering, or promising any gift or gratuitywhatever,with THE 6 intent to bias the opinion or influence the decision ofsuch7 THAT appraiser, receiver, trustee, administrator, executor, com- 8 missioner, auditor, juror, arbitrator, or refereein relation9toREGARDING any matterwhich may bepending in a court, or 10 before an inquest, or for the decisionofFOR whichsaidTHE 11 appraiser, receiver, trustee, administrator, executor, 06592'00 TVD 2 1 commissioner, auditor, juror, arbitrator, or refereeshall have2beenWAS appointed or chosen,shall beIS guilty of a 3felony.CRIME AS FOLLOWS: 4 (A) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBDIVISION (B), THE PERSON IS 5 GUILTY OF A FELONY PUNISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 4 6 YEARS OR A FINE OF NOT MORE THAN $2,000.00, OR BOTH. 7 (B) IF THE VIOLATION IS COMMITTED IN A CRIMINAL CASE FOR 8 WHICH THE MAXIMUM TERM OF IMPRISONMENT FOR THE VIOLATION IS MORE 9 THAN 10 YEARS, OR THE VIOLATION IS PUNISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR 10 LIFE OR ANY TERM OF YEARS, THE PERSON IS GUILTY OF A FELONY PUN- 11 ISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 10 YEARS. 12 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 13 January 1, 2000. 14 Enacting section 2.
