        A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

   "The Michigan penal code,"

   by amending section 119 (MCL 750.119).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 119.  Bribery of jurors, etc.--Any  A person who

 2
       shall corrupt  CORRUPTS or  attempt  ATTEMPTS to corrupt
    any 

 3
      AN appraiser, receiver, trustee, administrator, executor, commis-

 4
      sioner, auditor, juror, arbitrator, or referee  ,  by giving,

 5
      offering, or promising any gift or gratuity  whatever,  with THE

 6
      intent to bias the opinion or influence the decision of  such 

 7
      THAT appraiser, receiver, trustee, administrator, executor, com-

 8
      missioner, auditor, juror, arbitrator, or referee  in relation

 9
      to  REGARDING any matter  which may be  pending in a court,
   or

10
      before an inquest, or for the decision  of  FOR which  said
    THE

      appraiser, receiver, trustee, administrator, executor,

      commissioner, auditor, juror, arbitrator, or referee  shall have

 2
      been  WAS appointed or chosen,  shall be  IS guilty of a

 3
       felony.  CRIME AS FOLLOWS:

 4
           (A) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBDIVISION (B), THE PERSON IS

 5
      GUILTY OF A FELONY PUNISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 4

 6
      YEARS OR A FINE OF NOT MORE THAN $2,000.00, OR BOTH.

 7
           (B) IF THE VIOLATION IS COMMITTED IN A CRIMINAL CASE FOR

 8
      WHICH THE MAXIMUM TERM OF IMPRISONMENT FOR THE VIOLATION IS MORE

 9
      THAN 10 YEARS, OR THE VIOLATION IS PUNISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR

      LIFE OR ANY TERM OF YEARS, THE PERSON IS GUILTY OF A FELONY PUN-

11
      ISHABLE BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 10 YEARS.

           Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act takes effect

13
      January 1, 2000.

           Enacting section 2.  This amendatory act does not take

15
      effect unless all of the following bills of the 90th Legislature

16
      are enacted into law:
