Rev. Daniel J. Rhodes, from Algonac Baptist Church in Algonac, offered the following invocation:
"Our Great God and Father in heaven, we honor Your name this day, and the name of Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. As we contemplate the day before us, we confess that we have many weaknesses, and so we ask for Your strength. We acknowledge our pride, and our prejudice, and so we ask for a measure of Your grace and Your mercy. We realize the gravity of the task You have set before us, and so we ask for Your wisdom and Your guidance. For these here today who have dedicated themselves to serve the citizens of this great state of Michigan, we ask Your blessing and Your favor. When they agree together, may it be with honor. When they disagree, may it be with humility. In all things, Father, we give You the praise and the glory. Bless, comfort, and keep us in Your love, by the power of Your Spirit. In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen."
______
Rep. DeHart moved that Reps. Daniels, Scott and Thomas be excused from today's session.
The motion prevailed.
