A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4231 AS INTRODUCED 2-14-01
Under the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) certain state-owned property may be designated as "reserved property." Among other requirements, the property must involve at least 640 contiguous acres of land, and contain a wetland, a high-risk area, or a critical dune that is regulated or protected under the act. House Bill 4231 would amend the NREPA to delete the current requirement that an inholding owner must give the state right of first refusal when he or she wants to sell or lease property, or interest in property, that has been designated a state land reserve.
