A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4402 AS INTRODUCED 3-6-01

The bill would amend the lobbyist registration act to prohibit a former legislator from lobbying until at least one year after leaving the employ of the legislative branch of government. Specifically, a former legislator would be prohibited from making expenditures for lobbying or receiving reimbursement for actual expenses for lobbying during the one-year period. A violation of the bill would be a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000, imprisonment for up to 90 days, or both.
