A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4529 AS INTRODUCED 3-27-01
House Bill 4529 would add a new section to Part 821 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA), concerning snowmobiles, to provide for the registration of antique snowmobiles - those of the model year 1966 or earlier -- as follows:
Antique Snowmobiles. The bill would specify that a person who was a state resident and the owner of a snowmobile of the 1966 model year or earlier could register the snowmobile as an antique snowmobile upon application to the Department of State. It would cost $20 to acquire a certificate of registration and a decal of a distinctive design, instead of the decal design currently issued under Section 82105 of the act. The new decal would have to indicate that the snowmobile was an antique.
The bill would specify that registration would be valid without payment of any additional registration fee while the applicant owned the snowmobile. Moreover, the provisions of Part 821 that were applicable to other snowmobiles would apply to antique snowmobiles, except for those provisions that by their nature did not apply.
