A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5351 AS INTRODUCED 10-29-01
The bill would prohibit the secretary of state from issuing a driver's license to any person who knowingly made a false report of a bomb to a school, until the applicant for a license was 21 years old.
More specifically, House Bill 5351 would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to prohibit the secretary of state from issuing a driver license to a person less than 16 years of age not licensed under the act, who had been convicted of, or who had received a juvenile disposition for a crime described in, certain sections of the Penal Code. These sections include any provision of Chapter 33, concerning explosives and bombs, as well as violation of section 411a, which concerns making false bomb reports to police officers. Under the bill the prohibition would be in effect until the applicant for a license attained 21 years of age.
