A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5487 AS INTRODUCED 12-11-01

Under the Forbes Mechanical Contractors Act, a "fire suppression system" is defined to mean "an integrated combination of a fire alarm system and fire suppression equipment which as a result of predetermined temperature, rate of temperature rise, products of combustion, flame, or human intervention will discharge a fire extinguishing substance over a fire area". House Bill 5487 would amend this definition to clarify that the combination of a fire alarm system and fire suppression equipment would have to be "inside a building or structure".
