CONTENT


The bill would amend Chapter 17 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to refer to Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) section 285.83 rather than 285.82 in the sentencing guidelines designation for violations of the Grain Dealers Act. Those violations would continue to be categorized as Class H felonies against the public trust with a statutory maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment.


(Public Act 80 of 2002 (House Bill 5434) made several revisions to the Grain Dealers Act, including an increase in criminal fines for violations of that Act. Public Act 80 also changed the section of the Act that includes penalty provisions from MCL 285.82 to 285.83.)
