A bill to prescribe the Amber alert of Michigan as the offi- cial response to reports of child abductions. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the 2 "Michigan Amber alert act". 3 Sec. 2. (1) The department of state police shall establish 4 and maintain the Michigan Amber alert plan. 5 (2) The Michigan Amber alert plan shall be designed to rap- 6 idly disseminate useful information in a predetermined manner to 7 radio and television stations within this state. 8 Sec. 3. The Michigan Amber alert plan shall not be acti- 9 vated unless all of the following are met: 10 (a) A law enforcement agency confirms that a child has been 11 abducted. 07891'02 a JJG 2 1 (b) The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in 2 danger of serious bodily harm or death. 3 (c) Sufficient descriptive information exists concerning the 4 child and the abductor that dissemination of the information will 5 help locate the child or the abductor. 6 Enacting section 1.
