Counties; boards and commissions; cap on dollar amount for arrest

and conviction of a person having committed a crime within the

county; increase.

A bill to amend 1851 PA 156, entitled

"An act to define the powers and duties of the county boards of

commissioners of the several counties, and to confer upon them

certain local, administrative and legislative powers; and to pre-

scribe penalties for the violation of the provisions of this

act,"

by amending section 2 (MCL 46.2).

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1 Sec. 2. (1) The A COUNTY board of supervisors is hereby

2 authorized to offer and COMMISSIONERS MAY pay out of the general

3 fund of the county , not to exceed 1,000 dollars MORE THAN

4 $5,000.00 as a reward for the arrest and conviction, or for

5 information leading to the arrest and conviction, of any person

6 or persons having A PERSON WHO committed a crime within IN the

7 county or having escaped from any A penal institution

8 therein: Provided, That the powers granted hereby may be

9 exercised by the finance committee of the board of supervisors

1 where said board of supervisors is not in session LOCATED IN THE

2 COUNTY.

3 (2) (a) The A COUNTY board of supervisors COMMISSIONERS

4 in any A county containing WITH a population of not less than

5 180,000 nor more than 250,000 according to the last United

6 States census may, by a majority vote of members-elect at any

7 A regular or legally called special meeting thereof OF THE

8 COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, provide by resolution for the

9 appointment of a warden or other official and the necessary depu-

10 ties and assistants to have full charge and control of the county

11 jail and the prisoners therein, LODGED IN THE COUNTY JAIL under

12 the supervision of the COUNTY board of supervisors

13 COMMISSIONERS. The COUNTY board OF COMMISSIONERS shall fix the

14 salary or compensation and prescribe the duties of such THOSE

15 official or officials. They may be required to furnish bonds in

16 amounts and with sureties approved by the COUNTY board of

17 supervisors COMMISSIONERS.

18 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take

19 effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____

20 (request no. 06831'02 *) of the 91st Legislature is enacted into

21 law.
