A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6338 AS INTRODUCED 11-10-04
Public Act 33 of 1951 authorizes, among other things, contiguous townships, villages, and cities to provide joint police and/or fire protection. The act authorizes the levying of special assessments and the creation of joint administrative boards, for police protection, fire protection, or both. The act applies to cities with a population of under 15,000. House Bill 6338 would increase the city population limit to 100,000.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill would have no state fiscal impact. The levying of any additional local millages would be optional for local units.
