POLICE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY H.B. 6020: FLOOR ANALYSIS

CONTENT
The bill would create a new act to designate May 15 of each year as "Police Officers Memorial Day" in recognition of the men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty while serving as Michigan law enforcement officers.


On May 15 each year, all flags at public buildings would have to be lowered to half staff in honor and appreciation of fallen law enforcement officers. Each community would be encouraged to conduct a memorial ceremony and State residents would be encouraged to pause and reflect upon "the dedicated professionals who bravely chose to accept personal risk and made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and defending the public".
