SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 5117

                                                                             A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled                                             

"Public health code,"                                                       

(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 20531.                        

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1   Sec. 20531.  Not later than 90 days after the effective date                

2   of this section, the department shall mail a notice to each                 

3   clinical laboratory doing business in this state explaining the             

4   reporting requirements of this section.  Beginning October 1,               

5   2005, a clinical laboratory that analyzes a blood sample for lead           

6   shall report the results of the blood lead analysis to the                  

7   department electronically in a format as prescribed by the                  

8   department.  The clinical laboratory shall submit the report to             

9   the department as required under this section within 5 days after           

10  the analysis is completed.
