A bill to protect and promote children's health; to create
the MIChild program; to prescribe the powers and duties of the
department of community health; and to prescribe certain duties
of certain other state departments, officers, and agencies.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the
2 "MIChild program act".
3 Sec. 2. As used in this act:
4 (a) "Department" means the department of community health.
5 (b) "Eligible children" means children who meet the
6 eligibility requirements of the MIChild program established by
7 the department.
8 (c) "MIChild program" means the program created in
9 section 3.
10 Sec. 3. The MIChild program is established within the
1 department. The department shall administer the MIChild
2 program. The MIChild program is to be used to provide
3 comprehensive health care to children who meet the eligibility
4 criteria established by the department.
5 Sec. 4. The department shall not use money from the MIChild
6 program to promote the use of or to provide a prescription for a
7 drug or device intended as a contraceptive to an eligible child
8 without consent from a parent or legal guardian of the child.
