A bill to amend 1917 PA 167, entitled
"Housing law of Michigan,"
(MCL 125.401 to 125.543) by adding section 98.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 98. (1) Not later than 2 years after the effective
2 date of the amendatory act that added this section, each senior
3 housing complex shall have an emergency electrical generator that
4 provides, for a minimum of 24 hours, automatically transferred
5 power for at least 40% of the BTU output of the primary
6 electrical system. The emergency system shall provide electric
7 power for at least the following: lighting in areas of refuge,
8 emergency elevator with cab size capable of handling a stretcher
9 horizontally, and emergency call systems.
10 (2) As used in this section, "senior housing complex" means a
11 multiple dwelling of class a the residency of which is limited to
1 single individuals aged 55 or older or households in which at
2 least 1 member is age 55 or older and all other members are age
3 50 or older.
