A bill to amend 1899 PA 44, entitled
"An act to provide for the publication and distribution of
publications, laws, and documents, reports of the several
officers, boards of officers and public institutions of this
state now or hereafter to be published; to provide for the
replacing of publications lost by fire or otherwise; to provide
for the publication and distribution of the Michigan manual; to
provide for duties of certain state and local government
departments and agencies; to establish certain funds; and to
provide for certain penalties and remedies,"
by amending section 2 (MCL 24.2), as amended by 1995 PA 179.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 2. (1) Unless
directed otherwise by the legislative
2 service bureau, the
department of management and budget shall
3 distribute the
publication containing the public and local acts
4 of each session of the
legislature to the secretary of the senate
5 and the clerk of the
house of representatives and 42 copies
6 imprinted
"senate" and 120 copies imprinted "house of
7 representatives",
to be used as desk copies, to the secretary of
1 the senate and the
clerk of the house of representatives,
2 respectively. Members
of the legislature shall also receive a
3 complete set of the
public and local acts published subsequent to
4 the latest edition of
the Michigan Compiled Laws, for their
5 personal property
during each term for which they are elected.
6 The legislative service bureau, at the direction of the
7 legislative council, shall publish at least 1 print copy of the
8 publication containing the public and local acts of each session
9 of the legislature. The legislative service bureau shall also
10 make the publication containing the public and local acts of each
11 session of the legislature available on the internet.
12 (2) There may be published additional copies of the public
13 and local acts as the legislative service bureau, upon the
14 direction of the legislative council, considers necessary.
15 Unless otherwise directed by the legislative service bureau,
16 these copies shall be deposited with the department of management
17 and budget for sale and future distribution.
18 (3) The legislative service bureau may prepare, at not less
19 than the actual cost, reprints of laws upon particular subjects
20 for printing and distribution. The department of treasury shall
21 publish and distribute all pamphlets of the general tax law or of
22 all other laws relating to the revenues of the state.
23 (4) As used in this section, "publication" or "published"
24 means the production and dissemination of information in print,
25 microfilm, microfiche, or electronic form.
