House Resolution No. 186.
A resolution recognizing and congratulating the 2003 Grand Valley State University Lakers’ championship football team.
Whereas, It is a great privilege and an honor to salute the 2003 Grand Valley State University football team on capturing the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Championship by defeating North Dakota State University in Florence, Alabama on December 13, 2003; and
Whereas, The Lakers,’ under the leadership of Coach Brian Kelly and his staff, with 27 seconds left in the game sealed the Lakers’ second straight title with a 10-3 victory over North Dakota; and
Whereas, The Lakers’ played with great heart, discipline and determination making their dreams of becoming the sixth Division II team to win consecutive championships a reality; and
Whereas, Many of the talents and characteristics they exhibited in reaching this goal will help them in all aspects of their lives; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body hereby recognize and congratulate Coach Brian Kelley and the 2003 Lakers’ football team; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Coach Brian Kelly, the Grand Valley State University football team and Grand Valley State University President Mark Murray as evidence of our admiration and esteem.
