A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5897 AS INTRODUCED 3-21-06
The bill would amend the Tax Increment Finance Authority Act to make the following changes.
** The act currently refers to public facilities, buildings, and structures with a significant "historical interest," and requires they be preserved in accordance with laws governing "historical sites." The bill would change the expressions to "historic interest" and "historic sites."
** The act currently refers to historic district commissions created under Public Act 169 of 1970; the bill would cite that act as the Local Historic Districts Act and update the reference.
** A reference to the Secretary of State would be removed and replaced with a reference to the Department of History, Arts, and Libraries. (This reflects the transfer of history-related duties to HAL.)
MCL 125.1826
FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill would have no fiscal impact.
