PROJECT COST REVISION/SCOPE CHANGE S.C.R. 47: COMMITTEE SUMMARY

Senate Concurrent Resolution 47 (as introduced 6-6-06)
Sponsor: Senator Shirley Johnson
Committee: Appropriations

Date Completed: 6-7-06

CONTENT
The Department of Management and Budget is requesting a project cost revision and scope change to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Transportation Service Center project in Cadillac. The requested change would reduce the project cost from $2,911,400 to its original $1,000,000 authorization as provided in Public Act 45 of 2001.

The project was initially authorized as a new Transportation Service Center in Cadillac. In 2005, at the request of the Department of Management and Budget, the project scope and costs were revised to include the development of an intermodal facility in partnership with the Cadillac-Wexford Transit Authority. The Authority has since indicated to MDOT its intention to withdraw from participating in the project due to an inability to secure the local share of the project costs. The Department is requesting to continue with the Transportation Service Center, as originally planned, and therefore is requesting the project cost be reduced from $2,911,400, to $1,000,000, with funding coming from the State Trunkline Fund.
