A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled
"The code of criminal procedure,"
(MCL 760.1 to 777.69) by adding section 23 to chapter XVI.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
CHAPTER XVI
Sec. 23. A law enforcement officer who interrogates a person
who is the focus of a criminal investigation shall videotape the
interrogation and any inculpatory and exculpatory statements made
by the person concerning the crime. A videotape made under this
section shall be maintained by the law enforcement agency. As used
in this section, "law enforcement officer" means that term as
defined in section 21 of this chapter.
