A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 683a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 683a. The state transportation department shall erect, or
cause to be erected, a traffic signal at the intersection of north
Fairview avenue and Saginaw highway in the city of Lansing.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect
unless approved by a majority of the voters of the city of Lansing
voting on the question. The question of the adoption of this
amendatory act shall be submitted to the voters of the city of
Lansing at the next regular election to be held not less than 60
days after the effective date of this amendatory act or at a
special election called for that purpose. The question shall be
submitted in substantially the following form:
"Shall 2006 Local Act ___ , to amend the Michigan vehicle code
to require the erection of a traffic signal at the intersection of
North Fairview Avenue and Saginaw Highway in the city of Lansing,
be adopted?

No ( )".
The result of the vote shall be canvassed by the board of
state canvassers. If a majority of the electors voting on the
question vote in favor of the adoption of this amendatory act, it
shall take effect 10 days following the certification of the
election results.
